Volunteers are needed to help document and share the important occasions of the parish. This could include shooting videos and photos, as well as, writing content for our website and Facebook page. Office volunteers work in the church office during regular business hours. There are two shifts, 9:00 to 1:00 and 1:00 to 4:00 Monday thru Thursday and 9:00 to 1:00 on Fridays. Volunteers help the church administrative assistant by answering the phone, greeting visitors, selling scrip, sorting mail and small projects as assigned. Fellowship & Fundraising
Bradley Center Crew
The Bradley Center Crew works in a booth selling food and beverages at the Bradley Center for major events such as Bucks and Admirals Games and other events. The group earns 10 to 12% of the gross sales of the event for the church-operating budget. We budget $15,000 annually for income generated by these events. Junk in the Trunk
Periodically in the spring and summer months St Bernard makes the parking lot available for our Junk in the Trunk. JITT is a community rummage sale. We need volunteers to help coordinate the events, be on site on the date of the event(s), and helping with publicity. Dates for 2016 will be June 4 and September 10. Monday Night Crew
The Monday Night Crew (MCN) is a group of volunteers who help out in the buildings and grounds. Some of the activities include painting offices and hallways, small construction projects and yard work. While the group is called the "Tuesday Night Crew" they work when there are projects which focus on maintenance of the buildings and grounds of the church and school buildings. St Bernard purchases gift cards at a discount while our customers purchase the gift cards at full price from the Church. The proceeds from the sale of the gift cards benefits the parish and the Wauwatosa Catholic School families. Assistance is needed to help sell scrip after the weekend Masses. Meet the people interested in becoming parishioners of St Bernard. Assist with registration and answer questions about the parish. Volunteers meet with prospective members on a one-on-one basis at a mutually agreeable time.
Altar Servers are responsible for preparing the church for the Mass by lighting the candles, placing the gifts in the appropriate place in the back of the church, and setting the Sacramentary and other items for communion on the credence table. Altar servers must arrive in the sacristy 15 minutes before the scheduled time for Mass. Altar Servers are at least 4th grade age to adult. Training is provided. Children’s Liturgy of the Word Teacher
Children’s Liturgy of the Word teachers rotate teaching of the Scriptures to children during the 10:00 AM mass. Commitment is about an hour of preparation before a session and about ten to fifteen minutes to implement the curriculum. Materials and training is provided. There are usually 5 to 7 Eucharistic Ministers per SaturdaySunday Masses. They help in the distribution of Holy Communion. Eucharistic Ministers training sessions will be held periodically for people who are interested in participating in this ministry. Lectors are responsible for proclaiming the first and second readings at weekday and Saturday/Sunday Masses. There are workbooks available to help Lectors prepare for the readings. For more information or to volunteer please click here to send an email message.
Mass of Remembrance
Sympathy cards are sent and literature are given to the bereaved throughout the year. A special liturgy is held on November 2nd for those who have lost a loved one during the preceding year. Ushers serve the congregation by collecting the offertory at Saturday/Sunday Masses, and putting the collection in the designated secure place. They may be called on to help worshipers who have questions or difficulties before, during and after Mass. The Ushers are the "face" of the congregation to the public.
There are many opportunities to share your love of music with your fellow parishioners.
Meets every Thursday from 7 - 8:30 pm in the choir loft. We sing every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month. We sing from September through May, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. High school age and older are invited to join us.
Adult Bell Choir
Meets every Tuesday from 7 - 8:30 pm in the choir loft September through April. We play a Christmas Concert in November, Christmas Eve Mass, and a Mass during Lent and Easter Sunday.
A cantor leads the congregation in singing. Rehearsals with Gail Martin at their convenience. The only requirement is a pleasant singing voice and a desire to lead the congregation in sung prayer.
Sings the first Sunday of every month. In December, we sing a Christmas Concert at Hart Park Square and at San Camillus plus the 4:30 pm Christmas Eve Mass. We sing September through June. We rehearse after school on Thursdays in church.
Children's Bell Choirs
We meet after school. Since there are two bell choirs, we rotate playing the first Sunday of the month. They both play at the 4:30 pm Christmas Eve Mass. We rehearse September through May.
Organist, pianists and guitarists assist in accompanying various parish liturgies.
Instrumentalists are used either regularly or occasionally to enhance our worship services. We have descant books for C and B flat instruments which are readily available. Instrumentalists with several years of experience are invited to contact Gail Martin. Opportunities include regular weekend liturgies, plus special feast days. Instruments of many kinds are welcome.

Christmas & Easter-Cards & Plants
Parishioners are invited to address Christmas or Easter card(s) to our homebound parishioners. Volunteers deliver the cards and plants to the recipients a week before each holiday. For more information or to volunteer please click here to send an email message.
Christmas Gift Sharing Weekends
Parishioners are asked to bring a wrapped Christmas gift (men, women, children) to church during two specific weekends in Advent. Gift Giving Club
Each month specific items are requested to be donated, sorted and delivered to designated agencies that serve the poor. A shelter for homeless men located at 1216 N. 13th Street. Volunteers from St. Bernard help staff the shelter 2 or 3 times per month - about 2 hours in the evenings. Hygiene Bags Ministry

Respect for Life Baby Shower
A baby shower is held during the month of October. Parishioners are asked to bring baby items to church. Ronald McDonald House Meal Program
The RMH Volunteer Meal Program provides parents, siblings and those receiving treatment hot, homemade meals on a surprisingly frequent basis. Groups of volunteers from St. Bernard prepare and serve about two meals per month to parents and children at the Ronald McDonald House in Wauwatosa. Tosa Community Food Pantry
Volunteers are need to shop, staff and serve at this community food pantry that is housed at St. Bernard. Volunteers sort and shelve food, assist clients and the Pantry Coordinator as directed. Training is provided. The pantry also maintains a list of volunteers to help with large deliveries from pantry vendors on an “On-Call” basis and depending on the volunteer’s availability. Religious Education Teacher/Catechist
Teachers are needed for grades K-8. Teachers in grades one and two will prepare students for the sacraments of reconciliation and Eucharist. Classes are Sundays 9:00 to 10:00 at St Pius and 6:30 to 7:30 PM at St Bernard.
Tosa Trio Youth Ministry
Our youth ministry program offers special experiences and activities for students in grades 9-12, providing faith formation through education prayer and worship, service and social activities. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate service, plan and chaperone activities, lead small groups and assist with summer outreach. Tosa Trio meets two Sunday nights a month, with Mass at 6:00, and class at 7:00 to 8:30.
Vacation Bible School Volunteers
Every June the parish sponsors a one-week bible school for children. Volunteers are needed to organize, promote, assist and teach at this event.
Youth Mission Trip Volunteers
In the past, youth groups organized through Tosa Trio Youth Ministry, have provided service on mission trips to Appalachia, South Dakota and Milwaukee. Volunteers are needed to help with the Youth Mission Trips each summer.
